Beautiful day in Texas

I love the cooler weather and a beautiful day is like icing on a cake!! Speaking of  icing on the cake, we are celebrating our grandsons first birthday today. He actually turned one a week ago Friday and we already had a first birthday party for him at our home last Saturday. Today his parents are having a party for him near their home for their local extended family members and friends. Of course, granparents will travel anywhere ( or should if they can do so) when it involves their grandchildren! Our granddaughters birthday is next month and she will turn two years old so we are driving up to the Austin area...can't wait!!!

Strange how quickly the time has passed or so it seems..life is fleeting so enjoy it whether you have a wonderful sunshine day like we are having or it's raining instead...this too shall pass..

Love cars and the new 2014 Corvette really catches my interest

Hoping I can find a way to put some money aside and start saving for the next generation Corvette that has just been released. I have always wanted a red, convertible Corvette and dreamed of the day I would finally be able to purchase one. Practical, no not really for a middle aged person with two grandchildren and another grandchild on the way next year but so what, I still have dreams! I don't know how many other baby boomers out there have ever dreamed of owning a special car too but I just saw this week a middle aged woman finally getting her 2014 Red Corvette and I say congratulations to her. I hope one day to be able to purchase the same type of car she just did (except I want a 2014 convertible Red Corvette ). Driving a Corvette gives you a special feeling ( at my age, it's nice to feel good about something right.) and people just love these cars no matter the age of the car. Alas, I don't know if it will happen but it is still my dream to one day purchase a brand new Corvette convertible...dream on I say!,

Life is not easy but give baby bombers what they have earned..all baby boomers!!

The government shutdown crisis is currently ended but really the problems with it remains to be dealt with another latter date. Our politicians have bought us more time to come up with a solution but here's a novel idea, spend less and cut some of the pork out of the bills passed in the Senate and the House. Our children and grandchildren( even our great-great -great grandchildren ( at the way things stand now) are under an unbearable burden of debt. Some estimates say $53,000 is owed by every man, woman, and child and that's just as it stood a couple of days ago. Shoot, there are things I would like to purchase or own but I don't have the money to buy them so guess what....I don't buy them. Congress needs to quit spending our money for things we don't want or need (i.e. I don't want an I.o.u.placed in the Social Security accounts by the government)  as I have heard the government is borrowing monies from SocialSecurity and placing I.O.U.'s in the place of the monies we have paid in instead. Both I and my employers paid into the Social system so I want and NEED  that money whenever I  retire from working! The way the debt ceiling keeps being raised, money is being borrowed to pay current obligations but what about all the Social Security money borrowed from the accounts??? What about generation X , how much social security money will they be able to draw when they are finally able to retire??? I would say that our children's generation has about as much a chance as a ice cube in hades has that they will be able to get all the monies they are now paying into the Social Security system back.

I would like to retire one day and get back the money I had to pay into the Social Security system not just "hope" there will be money there when I am old enough to retire. I have heard that my age group will probably be okay but the younger "baby boomers" won't be so lucky. I realize time will tell but I have heard predictions that a younger sibling (still a baby boomer) can only expect to receive maybe 75% of the social securities monies they have paid in, and that's just wrong!! Don't make our lives harder as we deserve what is ours and others that did not pay anything into the system shouldn't be able to draw money out of Social Security! My two cents on the matter ...

Watching mindless t.v.

I call it watching mindless t.v. because I can watch it without my mind really having to think about what I am watching. It is a way to de-stress after a stressful workday but guess what, sometimes watching t.v. shows on the television today could actually be increasing my stress level. Have you ever felt this way? Do you also get disgusted by reality t.v. shows that seem less than real or appear scripted??.

A Baby boomer living life and believing still In "the Golden Rule"

I am "New" to writing blogs so forgive me if I am not proficient in this endeavor. At any rate, I am a baby boomer that has decided to write about things I like ( and the flip side of that is things I dislike) and wanted to see if any other people feel the same way I do about things. Being a child born in the '50's, I have seen many things occur in my lifetime and not all of them have been "good".  I still believe that there are many decent, caring people out there and I am hoping all people will embark on a crusade of being kind and caring and "paying it forward" to those around us. Be real, be fair, be who u r! I believe that the real you shouldn't be any different from the person you present yourself to be. None of us are perfect and I certainly do not claim to have all the answers nor do I claim to have all the answers That being said,  I believe we the people can band together and make this World, our World, a better place than it is now. But, we must not be " fake" or artificially nice people but truly care about others living with or around us..This means our thoughts should be on the welfare of others and not just ourselves.
